ONE of the biggest Challenges new art therapists face is finding the right balance between their own creativity and the unique needs of their clients. It’s completely natural to feel anxious or unsure when applying art-based methods or navigating others’ emotions — these moments can feel overwhelming and may affect the flow of a session. But you’re not alone. With the right support and guidance, these challenges can become opportunities for growth, connection, and powerful healing

ززAnxiety …….وووو……………….. Confusion …..زز…………………… Frustration
You may feel anxious and that’s completely normal. If you’re feeling uncertain about how the therapeutic process is impacting your clients, know that you’re not alone. Anxiety is a natural part of learning and growing. With time, you’ll begin to feel more comfortable and confident in your work with clients
You might find yourself feeling confused as you try to interpret the drawings or artwork. But there’s no need to worry. Art is a non-verbal form of expression, and with time, you’ll begin to understand the deeper meaning behind the symbols and colors used in the healing journey
You may feel frustrated when you don’t see immediate results or clear progress. It’s completely normal to feel this way at times. Remember, art therapy is an ongoing process, and your progress may be gradual. Don’t lose hope every small step contributes to building your experience
When you see positive change in your clients’ lives, whether through improved mental well-being or their ability to express themselves through art, you’ll experience a deep sense of fulfillment. Knowing that you’re contributing to their healing and growth gives your work a deeper meaning

Inspiration and Motivation
I’m sure that you carry many wishes and ambitions in your heart. Perhaps you wish to feel powerful and capable of making a real impact in the lives of others. I also believe that you hope to feel a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment as you see the progress of your clients, discovering how art has helped them understand themselves more deeply, and how artistic expression has contributed to healing their emotions and alleviating their stress. You might also wish to continuously develop your skills so that you can interact with each case in a unique and effective way. In the end, what you want to feel is that you are part of a true and inspiring healing journey, and that you’re contributing to making the world a better place through ART

Opinions from those who have worked with Dr. Walid and the Art Therapy team
Dr. Rula Farhat
Psychosocial Consultant / Head of the Elite Psychology Center – Lebanon
In my journey with psychotherapy, I was searching for a deeper way to understand emotions that words cannot describe. With Dr. Walid El-Gendy and his team, I discovered a unique approach that blends science and creativity. It wasn’t just about analyzing drawings; it extended to developing advanced therapeutic techniques in cognitive-behavioral and dialectical therapy using colors. The experience felt like opening a new window in art therapy, where colors became an effective analytical, diagnostic, and therapeutic tool. Today, as I continue my journey, I feel deeply grateful for this experience, which has given me greater clarity and stronger tools to understand the inner world of the human being

Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology
Department of Psychology, University of Al-Sharqiya, Sultanate of Oman
I attended various lectures with Dr. Walid El-Gendy on art therapy and drawing analysis, which included an enjoyable practical aspect. I then enrolled in a diploma program in art therapy with a focus on clinical psychoanalysis for children and adolescents, where I underwent 80 hours of training over 4 months, combining both practical and theoretical application. I learned to use different environmental materials in therapy. I also collaborated with him on a joint research project analyzing drawings of students from the Sultanate of Oman, where his analysis revealed great accuracy in uncovering the students’ psychological state, disorders, and family relationships. Thank you, Dr. Walid, for this enriching experience, and God willing, we will continue with you on future educational journeys

I was facing a problem with being overwhelmed by numerous sources that were neither sufficient nor qualified for learning art therapy. The feeling of frustration and constant searching for a trustworthy source with high-level expertise and information in art therapy was overwhelming. What made Dr. Walid stand out, aside from his professionalism and respect, was the trust and dedication he shows in his work and in explaining and conveying information. What is truly special in dealing with him is the atmosphere and family-like spirit among the team members. I feel distinguished and confident that I made the right choice. I feel like I’ve gained a new, qualified family, and now I am ready to become a qualified art therapist
